The Opportunity:
We're partnering with a key public sector body in Ireland seeking a Senior Infrastructure Engineer to take the lead across virtualisation, automation, and server administration projects. This is a long-term contract with real impact-maintaining and evolving the infrastructure that underpins essential services.
Core Responsibilities:
Lead enhancements across the VMware virtualisation and hosting environments
Provision and maintain physical and virtual servers
Deliver infrastructure projects to tight deadlines, aligned with best practice
Maintain server health (hardware, virtualisation layer, OS)
Apply security updates, hotfixes, service packs, and firmware
Build and support Kubernetes clusters and 3rd party management platforms
Manage server environments (Windows Server 2012-2022, Linux/Unix)
Troubleshoot incidents and lead root cause analysis
Deliver capacity, usage, and performance reporting
Follow ITIL service delivery principles and produce strong technical documentation

Virtualisation / VMware:
vSphere, vCenter
vRealize Operations, Log Insight, Network Insight
NSX-T
Omnissa Horizon
Automation & Containers:
Terraform & Ansible
Kubernetes Clusters
Server Administration:
Windows Server (2012-2022)
Linux/Unix systems
Mandatory Certifications:
VMware Certified Professional (VCP) or VMware Certified Advanced Professional (VCAP)
MCSE (or Microsoft-approved equivalent in Server Admin)
